Anchoring a Blue Legacy – Building Enduring Marine Protection 

The Micronesia Challenge Initiative has been leading the world in ambitious and internationally coordinated marine protection for over 19 years. This grant is supporting the 5 countries and territories that make up this conservation alliance to sustain enforcement and management of 72 million hectares (178 million acres) of protected acres. It also invests in local conservation enterprises to reduce pressure on coastal fisheries and strengthen regional coordination and data systems. Additionally, it helps support the design of a Project Finance for Permanence agreement to secure long-term stable financing for the Micronesia Challenge.
